Johnny si esprime a favore di Black Lives Matter e dei protestatori pacifici

Martedì 2 giugno, la puntata live di Drinks With Johnny non è andata in onda. Questo gesto è stato una forma di sostegno alla causa di Black Lives Matter, in seguito al brutale assassinio di George Floyd. Il nuovo episodio con Chris Santos e Lzzy Hale degli Halestorm, quindi, è stato realizzato ieri sera, e i due ospiti hanno espresso la loro opinione in merito alla situazione in America e alle proteste.
Prima di iniziare la videochiamata, lo stesso Johnny Christ ha sentito il bisogno di dire la sua, schierandosi dalla parte della comunità nera e di tutti coloro che stanno protestando pacificamente nel nome di un ideale che, spera, possa portare ad un cambiamento concreto nelle vite di tutti.

Come molti di voi a casa, sono stato a guardare le news, ho guardato a lungo qui [prende il telefono] ed ho visto un sacco di cose dove la gente diceva, Che sta succedendo là fuori?. Una cosa che ho letto l’altro giorno al telefono era una specie di meme, credo, non riesco a ricordare esattamente che cosa dicesse, ma in esso vi era un sentimento che è come se mi fosse rimasto addosso. Qualcuno ha chiesto, “Perché il razzismo viene così dibattuto adesso?”, o qualcosa del genere. E ci ho pensato per gli ultimi giorni e sono giunto alla conclusione che il razzismo non sia un dibattito. Il razzismo non è giusto, ma non è neppure tanto il fatto che non sia giusto, è che è proprio SBAGLIATO, è completamente sbagliato. Giudicare qualcuno o trattarlo in maniera diversa basandosi sul colore della sua pelle è e sarà per sempre sbagliato. Questo ci va vicino, o si potrebbe dire che sia addirittura il fulcro di tutto ciò che sta accadendo in questo momento nel nostro mondo.
E, a coloro che stanno protestando pacificamente per il cambiamento di cui abbiamo così tanto bisogno, voglio dire che li supporto in ogni maniera possibile. A tutti i membri della comunità nera, vi supporto in ogni maniera possibile, anche se non potrò mai capire completamente che cosa significhi tutto questo [per voi], farò sempre del mio meglio per fare la cosa giusta. E non qualcosa di molto molto sbagliato, basandomi sul razzismo. Ora, molti di voi probabilmente hanno già visto ciò questa mattina: mio fratello, il mio amico, il mio cantante M Shadows ha rilasciato una dichiarazione su Revolver Magazine quest’oggi, ed io non potrei essere più orgoglioso di quello che ho letto questa mattina assieme a tutti voi, di aver condiviso i sentimenti di cui il mio cantante, il mio amico ci ha resi partecipi, la saggezza che ci ha messo, il pensiero, l’amore e la cura che ha impiegato… non potrei essere più orgoglioso di tutto ciò, e neppure potrei essere più d’accordo di quanto già non sia. Come ho detto, supporto i protestatori, quelli pacifici, ma riesco anche a capire come questo possa rappresentare una ragione di inquietudine. Se non riuscite a fare distinzione tra le due cose, penso che sia il caso che vi guardiate allo specchio. Il fatto che ci sia un motivo di agitazione, non è un scusa per sfociare nella violenza, di nessun tipo, non è ciò per cui è lì, è--- la lingua Inglese dice che il suo significato sia quello di capire la difficile situazione attraversata da qualcun altro. Non si tratta di condonare la violenza, non bisogna confondere le cose. Vorrei che, alla fine di tutto, potessimo uscire da questa intera faccenda instaurando una relazione più forte, pacifica ed amorevole con i nostri fratelli e sorelle compatrioti. Spero in un mondo migliore per mio figlio e per le generazioni future. Spero che ognuno possa capire che tutto questo non va bene, che l’ingiustizia perpetratasi fin troppo a lungo non va bene, che è ora di un cambiamento. Potrei andare avanti a parlare di ciò molto a lungo ed usando un sacco di parole, e sono certo che parleremo un po’ di più di questo durante lo show, ma per ora voglio chiudere questa parte con qualcosa che ho letto – o dovrei dire sentito – la scorsa settimana da una ex star dell’NBA, Jalen Rose. L’ho perfino scritta perché non voglio fare casino. Ha detto:”Vorrei che tutti potessero amare le persone di colore come amano la loro cultura.” E, il fatto che lui abbia usato la parola “amore”, ha avuto una certa risonanza dentro me. Lasciate che la abbia anche in voi.

Like many of you at home, I’ve been waching the news, I’ve been looking at this thing (the phone) a lot and seeing a lot of things where people were saying “what’s going on out there?”. One thing I read the other day on my phone was a meme of some sort I believe, I can’t remember exactly what it said but it had a sentiment that kind of stuck with me. Someone asked the question, “Why is racism being debated right now?”, something to that effect. And I thought about over the last few days and it isn’t a debate. Racism is not right, it’s not even not right, it’s WRONG, it’s flat-out wrong. Judging someone or treating them differently based on the color of their skin is and will forever be wrong. That is what it is close to, if not at the very heart of everthing that is happening in our world right now. And, to those who are protesting peacefully and going after a much needed change, I support you in any way that I can. To anyone of the black community I support you any way that I can, although I know I can never fully under stand what all of this means, I will always do my best to try to do the right thing. And not the very very wrong thing that is based on racism. Now a lot of you probably already saw it this morning; my brother, my friend, my singer M Shadows released a statement out on Revolver Magazine today, and I couldn’t be more proud to have read that this morning with the rest of you and share those sentiments that my singer, my best friend shared with all of you, the wisdom that went into it, the thought and love and care that went into that… I couldn’t be more proud and I couldn’t agree with more. As I said, I support protesters, peacefull protesters, but I also see where this can be a boiling point. If you cannot distinct between the two of those, I think you really need to look at yourself. Understanding a boiling point is not and excuse to violence of any kind, that it is not what it is there for, it is--- the English language that say that you understand the plight of somebody else. That is not condoning violence, and do not get those two twisted. The whole thing that I wish to come out with is a peaceful, loving, stronger relationship with our fellow men and women at the end of this. I hope for a better world for my son and the future generations to come. I hope that we can all understand that this is not okay, the injustice that is gone for far too long is not okay, it is time for change. I can go on and on about this with a whole bunch of words and I’m sure we’re gonna talk a little more about it on the show but I just wanna end this part of it with something that I read or heard rather last week, it is by an NBA former star, Jalen Rose and I wrote it down just because I dind’t wanna mess it up. What he said is: “I wish everyone could love black people the way they love black culture.” And that really reasonated with me because he said love. Now let that reasonate with you.
