| Zacky Vengeance spoke with Mason from 102.1 The X at the Virginia Beach, VA stop on the Rockstar Uproar tour. The two talk about the Rockstar Uproar tour, bus hygiene, not leaving his house, his dogs, his favorite place in the world, changing the set list every night, how dedicated their fans are and more. JM listened to the interview and transcribed it so you guys could check it out so a big thank you goes out to her for that. CITAZIONE Interviewer: It’s 102.1 the X, Richmond’s rock station. Mason in the tour bus here with.. What do you prefer, Zack Vengeance, Zacky V? What’s your choice?
Zacky V: I go with Zacky V.
INT: Zacky V. That’s kinda slick.
ZV: It’s got a nice ring to it.
INT: Alright, and you guys are out here on the Rockstar Uproar Tour, we’re out in Virginia Beach, and uh, this just started, didn’t it?
ZV: Yeah, we’re about.. we’ve been out for a week. I think today’s going to be like the fourth or fifth show.
INT I follow the tweets, it sounds like you guys are having fun.
ZV: Yeah, it’s been awesome! You know, we’re just settling into the groove right now, um.
INT: How long’s it go? How long’s the tour?
ZV: It’s like two solid months.
INT: That’s pretty good though.
ZV: Yeah, it’s been so solid, man. it’s long, but, you know, we do what we can to make ourselves comfortable.
INT: Well I can see, it’s a nice bus!
ZV: Yeah!
INT: It’s clean!
ZV: Yeah, it is.
INT: It’s not something you expect from, you know, rock bands here.
ZV: It’s.. it’s uh, definitely a rarity these days, but..
INT: Does.. Do you have somebody clean it?
ZV: Yeah.
INT: I wasn’t sure if you guys were just clean dudes!
ZV: It does not.. when we go to bed, it does not look like this, but when we wake up it just magically does. [laughs]
INT: [laughs] Very cool.
INT: What do you do in your off time? I’m sure everybody asks you about the music and the records and stuff, when you are not on tour, when you’re at home.. is it like the fishing or..
ZV: At home.. it takes a lot for me to leave my house. I love being home.
INT: Me too, bro. You know I just got into it with someone about this because people get like oddly offended, and I’m just a stupid radio jockey. People get offended!
ZV: Yeah.
INT: They’re like, and you don’t show up and they act like it’s a big [bleep] deal!
ZV: [laughs] Yeah.
INT: I just love being home with my dogs. Do you have any dogs?
ZV: Yeah I have two dogs, they’re my favorite things on earth.
INT: Absolutely, what kind of dogs?
ZV: I have a great dane and a little.. black.. monster devil. [laughs]
INT: [laughs] So as far as hobby goes.. like me, I’m a TV nut. HBO..
ZV: Dude, that’s how I am. When I get home from tour, I mean, I settle everything that needs to be done, grown up stuff, as soon as I can, then hang out with the dogs and just watch, you know, every season of everything I missed on tour.
INT: Right, right, yeah! Entourage. What’d we just get into? Boardwalk Empire? Just think about what it would be like to be in that time.
ZV: Yeah I can’t picture living there now though. Might be orange.
ZV: This is Zacky V from Avenged Sevenfold and you’re listening to Mason on 101.2 the X.
INT: It’s 102.1.
ZV: That’s the hardest make up on earth! What’s up? This is Zacky V from Avenged Sevenfold and you’re listening to Mason on 102.1 the X.
INT: There’s a kid who loves you guys and he listens to the show online, and I said ‘well send me some good questions’ and of course, like a dumbass, I forgot the questions in my car. So I’m thinking as I’m coming in here I’m like, ‘what can I do for this kid that’s kinda cool?’ Would you do a voicemail for him? He doesn’t even know we’re doing this, his name is Aaron Hilton.
ZV: Yeah.
INT: Just say something like, ‘Hey this is Zacky V, uh, leave a message for Aaron’ or whatever.
ZV: Yeah. Yo what’s up? This is Zacky V from Avenged Sevenfold, leave a message for Aaron. You probably won’t even believe that it’s me.
INT: Favorite place in the world?
ZV: I do have absolute favorite places. Besides, you know, the tropical destinations like vacation. But just as far as cities that are cool, I love New York City.. and.. I like Paris, man! I like fancy stuff! I like seeing all of the architecture, the buildings, the artwork.
INT: Nice ass restaurants.
ZV: Yeah. Weird food. Obviously drinking. Lots of alcohol. That’s my spot.
INT: They’re good at that over there.
ZV: They’re the best at it! [laughs]
INT: [laughs]
ZV: They’re rude sometimes, but I’m rude, too, so it’s awesome. [laughs]
INT: I was sitting here on the bus with Zacky V, Avenged Sevenfold, you guys are gonna take the stage here in about an hour.
ZV: Yeah.
INT: What’s going on tonight?
ZV: Aw, man..
INT: Fire?
ZV: Blowing lots of stuff up. We’re switching up our setlist every night -
INT: Cool.
ZV: So it’s going to be different than any one’s got so far.
INT: Weren’t the kids voting on them?
ZV: Yeah! Yep, we let our fans vote this time. You know, ’cause we did Uproar last year and we’ve been touring a lot, the states and stuff, and, you know, we never want it to feel stagnant. So we let the kids vote, and, you know sometimes I’m up on stage thinking like ‘this is an interesting set list we got going.’
INT: Right, right.
ZV: I see some people in the crowd, you know, that might not have been with us, Avenged Sevenfold, from the early days, and just some of the stuff seems like it’s going over their heads. But then you got the die-hard fans just losing their minds. It’s just a lot of fun, you know.
INT: One thing about you guys, too, is that the fans are.. extremely dedicated. What’s that like? Gotta be a cool thing.
ZV: Oh, it’s awesome, man. Um, you know, I think we worked really really hard, but when it comes to our fans, we’re just lucky. It has nothing to do with talent, I think, we’re just lucky they’re awesome, and they’ve supported us. AND, you know, they’ve had to live through the ups and downs with us, and I think that’s, you know, a lot of bands don’t have that with their fans. A lot of bands don’t understand that. Other bands didn’t start out playing in tiny clubs in front of nobody, you know, we had to interact with our fans. You know, I let somebody borrow my ID so they could get into our show one time. [laughs]
INT: [laughs] That’s really cool. Talk about something they’ll go and tell 50 of their friends. Say ‘oh you’re not going to believe this!’
ZV: Yeah, yeah, but, yeah we’re really lucky because of our fans.

Zacky: Direi Zacky V.

ZV: Ha un bell'anello adesso. ( che risposta è .-. scusate oggi sono polemica o forse solo rincoglionita e non afferro)
Int: Bene, e voi ragazzi siete qui al Rockstar Uproar tour, siamo a Virginia Beach, e uh, e questo è solo l'inizio, no?
ZV: Si, circa... siamo stati in giro per una settimana. Credo che oggi sia il quarto/ quinto show. ( no ma complimenti per la memoria -.-" )
INT: Ho seguito i tweets, e sembra proprio che vi stiate divertendo.
ZV: Si. E' stato impressionante! Sai, ci stiamo ancora assestando per adesso, um.
Int: Quanto durerà? Quanto dura il tour?
ZV: Tipo due mesi pieni.
Int: Abbastanza buono.
ZV: Si, è pesante. E' lungo, ma sai, facciamo quello che ci mette a nostro agio.
Int: Da quanto posso vedere, è un bel bus!
ZV: Ovvio!
int: E' pulito
ZV: Si, lo è.
Int: Non è quello che ci si aspetta da, insomma, delle band rock
ZV: E'... uh, sicuramente una rarità di questi tempi ma...
Int: Avete qualcuno che pulisce?
ZV: SI
Int: Non ero sicuro che voi ragazzi foste solo puliti!! (Suppongo intenda dire che non era possibile che fossero loro eccessivamente puliti ma che necessariamente c'era qualcuno che scrostava la zozzeria xD)
ZV: Infatti no, quando andiamo a dormire non ha questo aspetto ma quando ci svegliamo è magicamente tutto perfetto! [ride]
Int: Che figata!
Int: Cosa fate nel tempo libero? Sono sicuro che tutti vi pongono domande riguardo alla musica e i disci e roba varia, quando siete a casa, quando non siete in tour...pesca o...
ZV: A casa... Mi dispiace molto lasciare casa mia. Amo stare a casa.
Int: Anche a me, bro. Sai, non lo chiedo a tutti perchè la gente si offende, e io sono solo uno stupido jockey radiofonico. La gente si offende! ( non l'ho pienamente capita questa... mi sento un'inetta)
ZV: Si
Int: Sono come, tu non lo capisci e loro si comportano come se fosse un grande [beep] problema!
ZV: [ride] Si
Int: Amo stare a casa con i miei cani. Tu ne hai? ( ma se lo sa tutto il globo che son quasi più famosi della band. Questa se l'è bellamente preparata! -.-" )
ZV: Si, ne ho due. Sono le cose che adoro di più sulla terra.
Int: Assolutamente. Che razza sono?
ZV: Ho un gran danese e un piccolo...nero... mostro demoniaco [ride]
Int: E per quanto riguarda gli hobby? Tipo io... sono un TV- dipendente. HBO...
ZV: Amico, è quello che sono! Quando torno a casa dopo un tour, intendo, faccio tutto quello che deve essere fatto, appena posso, esco con i cani e praticamente guardo ogni stagione di qualsiasi cosa mi sia perso in tour! ( la mia stima per quest uomo tocca livelli apocalittici!!!)
Int: Giusto, giusto, si! L'entourage. In cosa ci siamo appena cacciati? Boardwalk Empire? (SerieTv Amerivana) Immagina come sarebbe essere lì ora.
ZV: Si, non posso immaginare di vivere li adesso. Potrebbe essere arancione! (mah...)

ZV: Questa è la cosa più difficile da fare sulla terra. Che succede? Qui Zacky V. degli Avenged Sevenfold e voi state ascoltando Mason della 102.1 The X!
Int: C'è un ragazzo che vi ama e ascolta lo show on line, e gli ho detto "Bene, mandami qualche buona domanda" e ovviamente,come un idiota ho dimenticato le domande in macchina. Cosi stavo pensando " Cosa posso fare di carino per questo ragazzo? " Vorresti fare un messaggio vocale per lui? Non lo sa che stiamo facendo questa cosa, il suo nome è Aaron Hilton ( sarà raccomandato? Sarà Paris sotto mentite spoglie? )
ZV: Certo
Int: Dici semplicemente qualcosa tipo " Ehi, questo è Zacky V, uh, che lascia un messaggio per Aaron" o qualcosa del genere. ( l'originalità dell'intervistatore lascia basiti )
ZV: Si. Yo, come va? Qui è Zacky V. degli A7X, lascio un messaggio per Aaron. Probabilmente non crederai mai che sono io!
Int: Il tuo posto preferito nel mondo?
ZV: Ho dei posti preferiti. Inoltre, sai, le destinazioni tropicali per le vacanze. Ma proprio per quanto riguarda delle belle città, amo New York City... e Parigi! (-.-) Amo le cose di fantasia. Vedere tutte le architetture, i palazzi, le opere d'arte. ( E l'Italia dove l'ha lasciata? -.-")
Int: Come i ristoranti!
ZV: Si! Cibi strani. Ovviamente da bere. Tanto alcool. Questo è il mio posto!
Int: Siamo bravi in questo qui.
ZV: I migliori (ride) Sono maleducati a volte, ma io sono maleducato, troppo, quindi è fantastico! (ride)
Int: Sono seduto qui nel tour bus con Zacky V, A7X, sarete sul palco tra circa un'ora.
ZV: Si
Int: Cosa succederà stasera?
ZV: Aw... amico
Int: Fuoco?
ZV: Scoppierà un sacco di roba. Stiamo cambiando scaletta ogni sera.
Int: Fantastico.
ZV: Così sarà diverso da qualunque altro fin'ora.
Int: Non hanno votato i ragazzi?
ZV: Si. Si, abbiamo fatto votare i fans. Sai "perchè siamo stati all' Uproar l'anno scorso ed è stato un lungo tour, gli stati e la roba, e , lo sai, non volevamo che fosse ripetitivo. Così abbiamo fatto votare i ragazzi, e salgo sul palco pensando " beh questa è un'interessante set list da fare!"
Int: Bene bene.
ZV: Vedo molte persone nella folla, che potrebbero non essere state con noi, A7X, fin dai primi tempi, e sembra che alcune cose passino sopra le loro teste ( credo intenda che molti rimangono attoniti durante certi momenti o con certe canzoni, bimbiminchia insomma ) ma poi vedi i fans storici, dei giorni difficili, perdere la testa. E' molto divertente!
Int: Una cosa che vi riguarda è che i fans vi sono veramente devoti. Com'è? Deve essere molto bello.
ZV: Oh, è meraviglioso. Lo sai, penso che abbiamo lavorato veramente sodo ma quando si arriva ai nostri fans, siamo semplicemente fortunati. Non c'entra il talento, penso, siamo semplicemente fortunati che loro sono così straordinari e ci hanno supportato. E, hanno vissuto momenti belli e brutti con noi, e penso che molte bands non abbiamo questo rapporto con i loro fans. Molti gruppi non riescono a capirlo. Gli altri non hanno cominciato suonando in piccoli posti davanti a nessuno, dobbiamo interagire con i nostri fan. Sai, ho lasciato il mio ID in modo che potessero entrare nel nostro show una volta. (ride)
Int: (ride) E' molto bello. Parliamo di qualcosa che loro a andranno a dire a 50 dei loro amici. Dicendo " O non crederai mai a quello che sto per dirti!"
ZV: Si si ma siamo veramente fortunati per i nostri fans.

ZV. E' stato un piacere. Gli americani sono fuori di testa, sono sempre più convinta di questo. Intervista carina, almeno originale, in alcuni punti, e non sempre le solite cose.
